Deja Vursha
Three years after Hurricane Katrina comes Hurricane Gustav, now threatening two major American landmarks, New Orleans again, and also the Republican Convention in St. Paul, Minn! Good news -- authorities seem better prepared in New Orleans this time.

Gustafi Maaf?
After hearing of Barack Obama moving his acceptance speech to an open-air stadium, evangelist James Dobson, asked his followers (this is true) to pray for rain! Inscrutable, though, are the ways of Providence: it was excellent weather for Obama, but the Republican Convention is now being cut short because of rain. As they say, be careful what you pray for.
The Democratic National Convention Complacency
The Convention went smoothly -- too smoothly -- for Niranjan Ramakrishnan, who longs for thge gumption, of Ann Richards. Written prior to Obama's acceptance, he asks if there is anything lamer than answering 8 years of mayhem with the cry of 'bipartisanship' . More...

Palin-Drone?
With the selection of Alaska's first-term governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, Republican nominee John McCain threw a spanner into the pundit prediction apparatus. The new nominee brings a curiously attractive mix of good looks and schoolmarmish rectitude.

Her sing-song speech makes a nice contrast to the trademark Dull Talk Express. Without a doubt, McCain has made Obama's choice of Joe Biden (dare we say it) pale in comparison!
